Portland Zoo Polar Bear Exhibit

I had a great day at the Portland Zoo. This zoo is dedicated to making the visitor's experience as up close, personal and educational as possible. I especially love the polar bear exhibit. Polar bears are at the top of the food chain in Alaska. In this picture there's nothing separating me from the bears but a thick plate of unbreakable glass. It's incredible to be that close to this powerful creature. And kinda creepy. It was dinner time when we were there. Lucky for us, the park attendant tossed fish down to the bears, so they didn't pay much attention to the excited crowd pressed against the viewing glass to watch. I love painting these beautiful creatures so I took lots of photos for future painting projects.
