Once I have my line drawing, I shrink it to about 3" x 3" using my copier. Then I project it onto my canvas with my projector. Using watered down burnt umber, I quickly sketch over the projected lines with a paintbrush. Since I wanted the backgrounds in this series to add continuity to all the paintings, I put my Winter Fandango painting next to the new one to make sure the horizon lines and mountains matched up. Now I'm ready to paint!
