Winter Fandango

Native Alaskans are resourceful and artistic, using whatever they have available to them to beautify their world. I especially love the costumes they wear to celebrate their gatherings. Inspired by the unique head-dresses and prayer masks used in Y'upik celebrations, I began a series of paintings of polar bears celebrating the seasons in Alaska. Winter Fandango was the first in this series.
