Painting the sky

I like to paint from the back to the front, from the left to the right and from the top to the bottom when I paint with acrylics. I start with the sky, quickly brushing in a beautiful bright blue spring day in Alaska. A blue with the promise of warmth and growth after a long, cold winter is the color I'm going for. I make the sky deeper blue at the top of the painting, slowly blending to a lighter pastel blue at the horizon.
