One of the many joys of summer in Alaska is the advent of bountiful berries, especially blueberries! These yummy wild blueberries are smaller and tarter than their domestic cousins and grow right in my yard at Hatcher Pass. I love gathering and freezing them for baking warm cobblers, scones, and pies on cold winter days to come. The beautiful purple-blue berries and bushy blue-green foliage are an artistic inspiration for happy painting times during the long, snowy winter months to come. Thinking of painting and baking in my cozy home while the snow flies outside almost makes me wish winter would hurry up and get here . . . almost.
