Pleine Aire at the Fair

On Saturday I had the opportunity to spend a sunny afternoon at the Alaska State Fair in Palmer pleine aire painting at the Valley Arts Alliance gallery. The Wild Bird Rehabilitation folks were there with 2 hawks, a great horned owl and a blue jay. They spent the afternoon educating fair-goers about the birds while I painted their red-tailed hawk. Lots of folks wandered by to be unexpectedly delighted by an up-close encounter with these majestic birds.
