I've finished my painting of the Independence Mine ore trestle at Hatcher Pass. Since I don't normally do landscapes, this was a stretch for me. It took a lot of discipline to relinquish painting a bear or a hoary marmot or even a stinkin' chickadee in there somewhere. But other than the lack of animalia, I enjoyed this painting. Underpainting laid a good road map, so I knew where I was going. Limiting myself to only 7 colors kept me from painting myself into a color corner, as I have been apt to do. In fact, I liked doing this painting so much that I'm going to head back up Hatcher Pass to find my next landscape. Ladies and gents, I present my finished acrylic, "Ghosts of Independence".
