My First Mosaic

I had the immense pleasure of participating in an all-day mosaics workshop at Arctic Mermaid Mosaics in Wasilla, AK yesterday.  The owner/workshop teacher, Terri Ann Kilborn, is an accomplished mosaics artist and loves to share her expertise with others.  Throughout the day she led our small group of beginners through the process of prepping, cutting, gluing, sealing, and grouting our designs onto 9"x9" mirrors.  We came up with our own designs and drew them onto the wood square around a mirror.  And though they were very different, they all turned out simply beautiful!  We enjoyed the process and the relaxed, encouraging atmosphere Terri Ann provided, not to mention the wonderful food and music to put us in the creative mood.  It was so much fun to spend all day and leave with a piece of heirloom artwork.  If you are interested in learning about mosaics, please give Terri Ann a call and sign up for one of her workshops.  You'll be glad you did.  Her website is http://arcticmermaidmosaics.com .
