I started this little painting before Thanksgiving as a tribute to turkeys, but I had to put it aside (80% finished) until after the holiday. Thanksgiving came and went, but I didn't get back to it. After several weeks of these two birds giving me the evil eye while I busied myself with other things around the studio, I couldn't take the accusing looks any longer and with a few deft strokes, I finished it. One of my more cynical holiday pieces, it reminds me we all have a limited amount of time on the planet before we meet our Maker. And in death our purpose is sometimes realized more completely than it is in life, even if it means being someone else's main course.
