THE ROAD LESS TRAVELED

THE ROAD LESS TRAVELED
Day 3 of Leslie Saeta's "30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge" yielded this little painting of a mule rider in the Grand Canyon. I had the great opportunity to take this incredible overnight trip last summer and it was more than awesome. (See another painting of that escapade here.)

Although it took me a little longer than 45 minutes to paint this (see Day 2), I attribute that to my grand ineptitude at painting landscapes. The background took about 3 hours. The mule and rider took about 10 minutes. This is because for me and 99% of the rest of the world it's much easier to bond with a 4-legged doe-eyed creature than it is to develop the same relationship with a rock.
