"The End" of Leslie Saeta's 30-Paintings-in-30-Days!!!
Here is the culmination of 4 weeks and 2 days of finishing a painting daily. Sure, the subject matter seems to be all over the place. The canvas sizes aren't so uniform. The photos were taken after dark with my iPhone. And, okay, if you want to get snippy, the technique is occasionally sketchy. Some days the painting took 45 minutes and I was done before noon. Other days it took 6 or 7 hours of laborious drudgery and I was posting after the calendar had already turned to the next day, my mind incognizant of what my fingers were typing. Even so, I'm proud of myself. It's a great start to a great year.
So the title of this post should really be "The Beginning." Because accomplishing this little feat has opened the doors of possibility. What other artistic accomplishments do I think are impossible? What other subjects do I believe I'm not capable of rendering? What doubts dare lurk in the dark recesses of my self-demeaning, frightened little artist's mind? I dash them all upon the foundation of this body of work. May these 30 little paintings carry away every ounce of my "I can'ts, I won'ts and I don'ts" to hell in a hand basket, never to be seen or heard from again.
Because I did it.
