FAUX TOES

TAKING TWINKLE TOES TO A WHOLE 'NUTHA LEVEL
Ever since the January 30-Paintings-in-30-Days Challenge was completed, I've had to turn my attention to some undeniably necessary body parts that have been falling-apart, namely both of my big toes. You might think losing the function in one's big toes isn't all that alarming, but take it from me...these two phalanges come in pretty darned handy for things like pedicures or basic balancing or kicking the dog.

So after a couple of years of pain and getting older and trying reeeeally hard to not admit it, this week I conceded to have both my big toe knuckle joints replaced with what I think the medical term is, "surgical steely ball looking thingys".
Both big toes.
At the same time.

Adding insult to injury, I have to wear these goofy black velcro shoes for the next 6 weeks that make crocs look like fine Italian shoes. And the awkward white socks that don't stay up, well that's just a big old bonus.

So if some of my immediately future paintings come out a little bit angsty and forboding, it's just because I've had BOTH my big toes bionicisized.
And it hurts.

    1. Thanks, Jacklyn! I intend to do just that. I want to be ready for Bill Cramer's Sedona Plein Air Workshop in April:

and the Great Alaska Plein Air Retreat in June:
