Every now and then I have to paint something silly. This is one of those paintings. I love the vibrant colors and vivid life the participants bring to the Dia de los Muertos celebration. The combined traditions of food, costumes and flowers in remembrance of those who have gone the way of all the world are like a gigantic in-your-face dance off with death. As if to say, "Take that, Grim Reaper!"
